COMMISSION REFERS CONVICTION OF MR ERKIN GUNEY TO COURT OF APPEAL


The Criminal Cases Review Commission has referred the conviction of Mr Erkin Guney to the Court of Appeal.
Mr Guney was convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court, on 23 July 1996, of possessing heroin with intent to supply, possessing a gun without a firearms certificate, and possessing ammunition without a firearms certificate.

He was sentenced to a total of fourteen years in prison: fourteen years in prison on the first count, to run consecutively with four years in prison on the second and third counts.

Mr Guney's appeal against conviction was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 27 February 1998.

He applied to the Criminal Cases Review Commission on 12 June 1998 for a review of his conviction.
