News and Press Releases

We are committed to openness and accountability and aim to provide a fast and efficient response to media requests.      As a matter of policy, we issue a press release every time there is a referral of a case to a court of appeal. Non-referral cases are not usually publicised, except where it is deemed to be clearly in the public interest to do so.  Section 23 of the 1995 Criminal Appeal Act prevents the Commission from disclosing any information found in "the course of its duties" and this restricts what the Commission can say publicly about individual cases.
